Hard questions · Surrogates
Can I be a surrogate if I take antidepressants or have a history of depression?
The short answer
Current PLS criteria exclude candidates currently taking antidepressants [CONFIRM], and most clinics require 6 to 12 months off medication with your prescriber's support. A past episode of depression that is resolved does not exclude you. The psychological evaluation is there to protect you, not to catch you out.
