Intended parents: process

How does a sibling surrogacy journey work?

The short answer

A sibling journey is a second (or later) surrogacy for parents who have already completed one, often with the same surrogate carrying a genetic sibling from the same batch of embryos. At Private Label Surrogacy the program fee for a sibling journey is 50% of the standard fee, because consultation and much of the screening are already done. The surrogate must still be re-cleared: ASRM guidance and most clinics require at least 12 months after delivery before another transfer, a repeat records review of the most recent delivery, and an updated psychological evaluation. If your previous surrogate is unavailable, you are matched with a new one at the same reduced fee. Expect 12 to 18 months from signing to birth when embryos are already frozen.

Editor notes (A-014): Confirm 12-month post-delivery interval policy with Dr. Silverberg and that the 50% sibling fee applies to the proposed $42,000 schedule. Experienced surrogate base is $65,000 to $70,000; state this.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the PLS fee for a sibling journey?

50% of the standard program fee. Third-party costs, compensation and clinic fees are paid again in full.

How soon after birth can our surrogate carry again?

Most clinics require at least 12 months after delivery, longer after a cesarean; the clinic decides after reviewing her delivery records.

Do we need a new contract?

Yes. A new gestational carrier agreement and a new parentage order are required for each pregnancy.

Is a sibling journey faster?

Usually. With a returning surrogate and frozen embryos, matching time disappears and the journey runs 12 to 18 months.
