Hard questions · Surrogates
What are the medical risks to me?
The short answer
The pregnancy risks you already know from your own births, plus the medication side effects of a frozen embryo transfer cycle (bloating, mood changes, injection-site soreness) and a slightly higher rate of certain complications in IVF pregnancies [cite]. Serious complications are uncommon. Your contract pays for complications and lost wages, and your life insurance policy of up to $750,000 is in force before transfer.
