Hard questions · Intended parents

Can I do this as a single parent, a gay couple, or from outside the US?

The short answer

Yes to all three. Illinois law allows intended parents regardless of marital status or sexual orientation, and since December 2025 no longer requires a genetic link [CONFIRM]. International parents face additional steps for citizenship and travel, and the August 2026 federal executive order affects children born to two non-citizen parents; see our dated status page. Our Global Surrogacy Coordinator has managed international journeys for eighteen years.
